I flew from Keflavik this evening, and not long after takeoff I could see a weak aurora along the horizon as we headed south (20:03 to 20:35 UTC). It was very difficult to take photographs out of the window due to the angle and the flashing lights on the aircraft wings, so unfortunately the image below was about the best that I could manage! There is reflection on the windows from the cabin lights and stars are not sharp due to my hand-holding the camera, but the small band of aurora along the horizon can be seen.

Image 1. 20:15 UTC. Settings = f/1.8, 2.5 sec. Sony RX100.
