There was some very strong geomagnetic storming from the 25th to the 27th August, but sadly my location in south-west Iceland was completely overcast with cloud for the entire period. The cloud finally parted on the evening of the 28th, and I was able to go out and see some weak aurora overhead between 00:45 and 01:15 UTC (unfortunately I missed the strongest part of the display which was a bit earlier). It is slightly difficult to see the aurora in the photographs, due to the bright twilight sky and also the influence of a full moon. But the aurora was still sufficiently strong to beat those other light sources, and there were even some ray structures across wide parts of the sky.
